Aalto Media & Dr Lighthouse were commissioned to produce a 15-20 minute live video projection for the conclusion of the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations on 30th October 2015 at Top of the Town, Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK. The work was produced in part from found footage and in part from live action video shot in advance and composited with the found footage to create a narrative that interweaves with the parade narrative and storytelling components of the event.
The video shown here was was also produced by Aalto Media as an evaluation video for the project team and includes the projection work in the concluding section. The video was shot and edited by students at Southampton Solent University through a partnership with Solent Creatives.
The video projection project was commissioned by Hampshire Cultural Trust, funded by the Arts Council GB and sponsored as part of the Basingstoke Town Centre Programme by Basingstoke & Dean Borough Council.
Very special thanks to Charlie Casey for the music and thanks to Projected Image for technical installation, Proteus Theatre for studio space, actors and costumes, Big Adventures for putting the whole thing together and Aleksandra Dimitrijevic for her amazing effort supporting this project.
